House Mentors
House Mentors help guide day-to-day community life inside AFV recovery homes. They are experienced residents or designated leaders who help communicate expectations, support healthy routines, and serve as a first point of contact for many house matters.
Leadership inside the home
Mentors help coordinate house meetings, responsibilities, communication, and routine house operations while encouraging a respectful recovery environment.
Support, not clinical treatment
House Mentors are not substitutes for licensed therapists, medical professionals, or emergency services. Their role is practical peer leadership within the recovery residence.
Typical mentor responsibilities
- Help welcome and orient new guests.
- Communicate house expectations and schedules.
- Support house meetings and assigned responsibilities.
- Escalate maintenance, safety, or operational concerns.
- Encourage guests to use the proper chain of communication.
- Help protect a respectful, recovery-supportive house culture.
